The recognition given to
Mother Theresa and Ghandhi came from them devoting their entire lives in service to others. By serving others in this selfless manner, they also served the will of the divine and gave praise to the divine through their service.
The special status was not anything that they intentionally pursued or cared about. They never asked for praise for themselves.
If you don't agree with the way Ghandhi (a very prominent and well respected hindu) lived his life, then please state what your religion is, because it's certainly not clear.

than any avergae indian does.
if they didn't want praise for themselves they could have easily avoided the whole limelight
& not taken up public posts like president of CWC etc.
because of gandhi millions suffered & are still suffering through after effects of partition etc ...

serving divine has nothing to do with putting one's attention on the sick & lowly who have reached that stage by going against divine. serving divine comes from putting attention on divine.

if people get bliss & get out of the repeated cycles of birth & death
from the 3-d plane that is real service to people. gandhi cannot do that for himself let alone others
