Agreed - the concept of country as it stands now is sheer madness. People do not even see the land, earth, air and water, and they do not love the concrete and bricks smothering them, or the artificial structures governing the masses - they love an ephemeral idea that has come more and more to represent a nationalism that is based on an us and them mentality that promotes racism, and as you say, environmental vandalism.
At least, that's what I see every Australia Day...
